close to Sintagma Square, Dimitris Karonis has his wine shop. He studied and lived in Athens, Paris and London, and now he lives in Nafplion, enjoying of a more “human” life than in the big cities.

Descendant of a distillers family that entered the market in 1882, he is involved in wines and spirits trade, but he also has some important surprises in his cellar as an ace in the hole, since he bottles an “Nouveau” wine made of Agiorgitiko grape, a white wine called “Aidonoftero” (the “Nightingale’s Feather”) made of Moshcofilero grape, and an aged tsipouro (grappa).
He is a founding member of the Greek Sommeliers Society, founded in 1997. He took courses for sommeliers in France and is a holder of a Master in European Vineyards, as well as of the Professional Certificate in Spirits of the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSPC).
His current concern and interest focus mainly on wines. He offers a good selection of wines and he always gives his informed advices with expertise and great care, advices that range from the simple everyday needs to the most demanding selection from the Greek and foreign vineyards.
