The greenest area in Nafplion is The Park. Over looked with
the statue of the hero and fighter of the Independence war,
the formidable Theodoros Kolokotronis mounted on his horse.
He points towards the monument of Ioannis Kapodistrias
located in the square of the same name. The park area is
a haven offering you shade, cool and calm during the heat
of the summer months with its tall trees and open green
areas. Also in one part of the park there is a children's
play area and a fountain.
Just
off to one side of the park separated by a pedestrian walk
is the Old Train Station. In use from the end of the 1800's
it came to a stop in the mid 1900's. The old station buildings
are in use for different events and even a one of them even
houses the Childs museum. A cafeteria has taken over another
part of the station and here's a perfect opportunity to
have refreshments in this perfect and relaxing setting.
At the station you will also find a disused old train.
