PRONIA

Even though prehistoric traces of habitation have been found around the area of Pronia in modern history it is known as one of the first refugee settlements in Greece. After the Greek Revolution an influx of refuges mainly from Crete descended on the new liberated capital. Today Pronia is an up and coming area with a selection of shops, schools and many residential buildings.
It is worth a stroll around Pronia to take in the pretty period houses and lovingly kept gardens that are situated off the main road.
