Not only does the site at Epidavros give us the ancient theatre with its amazing acoustics, you also have a chance to explore the sanctuary of Asklepios.

One of the first medical and spiritual centres the sanctuary was built to honour Asklepios the demi-god of medicine.

As the sanctuary became more and more popular the area was built up to accommodate the influx of people. A wonderful theatre was built for the visitors’ entertainment. The famous theatre of Epidavros is one of the best kept theatres and even today ancient plays are performed during the summer months. Not forgetting the two small museums on site holding finds from the sanctuary and a display of costumes and artefacts from the theatre. The site is in spectacular and serene surroundings lending a peaceful and tranquil setting..
